2023 Domaine Charnay Beaujolais, Gamay. Beaujolais-FRANCE. 750ml.
The vines of the Charnay domaine grow over golden limstone soils surrounding Anse in the south of Beaujolais. Thibault Charnay returned to run the family domaine in 2011, promptly began making wine from the family's vines instead of selling to negociants, then converted to biodynamic farming in 2019. Fruit is cold carbonic macerated, in varying percentages depending on the nature of respective vintages, on indigenous yeasts then aged in concrete for 5-6 months (again depending on the vintage). The resulting wine is fresh, zippy with quiet lines of mineral and spice. Serve chilled in the warmer months!
