2020 Sylvie Esmonin 'Clos Saint-Jacques' 1er - GEVREY-CHAMBERTIN, FRANCE. 750ml
Note: 40+ year old vines aged in 100% new oak with 80% whole clusters ‘
‘Ripe and airy aromas are comprised by notes of poached plum, fresh tobacco, black cherry and a plenitude of floral nuances. There is fine richness to the notably finer but not necessarily denser medium-bodied flavors that exude a subtle bead of minerality on the powerful, serious, youthfully austere and built-to-age finale. This excellent effort is definitely going to need at least some cellaring before it's likely to be reasonably approachable. Outstanding’ Score 94 Drink 2034+ Alan Meadows BURGHOUND.COM Jan 2023
‘The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques 1er Cru had just begun its malo and contains 56% whole bunch. This has a tightly wound bouquet with blackberry, briary and light violet aromas. The palate is medium bodied with grainy tannins, fine acidity, quite linear and precise towards the finish. Lively and focused, I admire the joie-de-vivre in this Clos Saint Jacques.’ Score 91-93 Drink 2030-2055 Neil Martin VINOUS.COM Nov 2021
