2019 Armand Heitz 'la Barre' Meursault, Burgundy, FRANCE. 750ml
Appellation: Meursault
History and tradition: disappeared in the depths of the ground at Nuits-Saint-Georges, the hard limestone of Comblanchien reappears in Meursault. These excellent vineyards have been developed by the monks of Cîteaux since 1098.
Soil: as in the Vireuils, the soils are shallow and made of limestone marl. On the other hand, the clay content is higher than in Vireuils. The wines from this plot are therefore generally richer and denser.
Cellaring potential: 5-7 years Vine planting: 1969 et 2008 Surface: 0.49 ha
Maturation: 11 months
New oak barrels rate: 20 to 40%
89 Pts Outstanding Burghound Drink 2026+
Note: from a .50 ha holding
Slightly riper though still attractively fresh aromas include those of hazelnut, various white orchard fruit and subtle acacia blossom nuances. The delicious, round and fleshy middle weight flavours possess much better depth and solid persistence on the balanced finish. Lovely and very Meursault.
