The Baricci home and vineyards are located in the northern part of the territory of Montalcino, on the slope overlooking the city of Siena at an altitude of 280 meters above sea level, and have been in the family since 1955. The tiny estate consists of 5 hectares of sangiovese planted in the dark and rocky soils of seabed, schist and quartz on the little Montosoli hill, the first legally recognised cru of Montalcino. Baricci released their first commercial Brunello di Montalcino in 1971 and their first Rosso di Montalcino in 1968.
Soil type: Blend of lime, schist, quartz and clay.
Vineyard and viticulture : Vineyard located on the top of Montosoli hills, cultivated without herbicides nore product of synthesis. Area recognized for the quality of its terroir. Three walks during harvest season in order to keep the best grapes and optimize the fruit's quality. Guyot cut, South - South/East exposure
Vinification and aging : Hand harvest with grape selection after destemming. Maceration and fermentation on skins with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks during 20 days. Aging in Slovenian oak barrels for 24 months.
