2024 Hochkirch Tarrington Chardonnay - HENTY, VIC. 750ml

My notes from Hochkirch came printed on a piece of paper that on its flipside had information on some old, travel and flight information, enhancing the environmental credentials of Hochkirch beyond their organics and biodynamics with this feat of re-use. This sees a few hours skin contact then gets pressed off to old, larger oak barrels. It’s pure class.
Slippery texture with a cool cut and thrust. All pure fruit, all energy and deliciousness. So much less about polish and finery of oak and so much about how the wine feels and flows. Green appley, quite intense in that regard, just ripe-nectarine, the faintest red onion element with chicken stock barely there, ginger, alpine herbs, lightest fino sherry notes and this cool, ultra minerally finish that feels all alpine water and river stones. This is chardonnay.
