The 2021 Côte de Brouilly from Domaine Lafarge-Vial is an absolutely superb bottle in the making. The bouquet hops from the glass in a youthful blend of strawberries, cherries, sweet cranberry, granitic soil tones, pigeon, woodsmoke and a lovely topnote of fresh thyme. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very soil-driven in personality, with a lovely core of red fruit, fine-grained tannins, bouncy acids and fine focus and grip on the long, complex and seamlessly balanced finish. This will be a terrific example in due course. 2026-2055.
