2021 Chanterêves Bourgogne Aligoté 'Les Monts de Fussey' - Burgundy FRANCE 750ml

This lieu-dit is located above the village of Échevronne, just below Fussey at the border between the Hautes Côtes de Beaune and the Hautes Côtes de Nuits, on the Beaune side. This southeast-facing slope, rich in stone and limestone/marl, is Chanterêves’ lowestaltitude parcel in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune at 400m. The low-fertility soils make for very modest yields. Five Star Wine. “45+ year old vines, planted along the contours so tractor work is dangerous. Pale lemon colour. Clean, clear and fresh, no reduction, really stylish. This is lodged only in 228 litre barrels, which may explain why it is less reductive. Beautifully stylish. Excellent tension at the back but with an Aligoté which belies it. Top candidate.” 88-90 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy “The entry-level wine from the Fussey area, this vineyard is located just below the village. At 430 metres of altitude, the wine is intense, with good freshness and balance. While less complex than the top cuvées, it still has what’s needed to bring joy with its generous, vivid character.” 89-90 points, Steen Öhman, Winehog
