2020 l'Octavin Chardonnay en Jarre Hip Hip J. Jura, FRANCE. 750ml.
The two Hip Hip J cuvees look almost identical. The Chardonnay gnome has yellow pants, where the Savagnin gnome has orange pants. In this shipment the lot number of the macerated Chardonnay is Lch macéré 2020 and the lot number of the macerated Savagnin is Lsv macèré 2020.
The Chardonnay grapes for this wine were purchased by Alice from another Jura producer whose vines are currently undergoing conversion to organic with Agriculture Biologique.
The grapes underwent 2 months of maceration before being pressed and transferred to tank for elevage for almost 8 months prior to bottling in July.
There are two Jura wines, both from the relatively bountiful 2020 vintage. These wines are part of Alice’s “Hip Hip J” series of wines, all sourced from the same Pupillin grower. She is much less public about who this grower is, perhaps because Jura grapes are in such demand. We respect that and with all her wines only publish what she publishes. This small hint on Instagram, with a post of macerating Savagnin from the 2022 vintage and the comment “merci Juju” is the first time we have seen her acknowledge him, albeit just his nickname.
