2017 Rennersistas 'Waiting for Tom Rose - Burgenland, Austria.750ml

 

During Stef’s internship with Tom Lubbe at Matassa, he’d advise his workers he’d be right back, but several hours later they were still “Waiting for Tom” 

The name though isn’t just a light hearted joke, it is also an homage to the style of wines. The influence imparted by Tom Lubbe and Tom Shobbrock (where Stef interned in 2016) on creating lighter reds and blends had a big impact, especially coming from Burgenland a red wine focused area.

The 2017 WFT Rose is a blend of 60% Zweigelt and 40% Blaufrankisch. Whole bunches were directly pressed and the subsequent wine spent 8 months on lees in used barriques. No Additions here

From watermelon to intense strawberry and raspberry characters, layers of depth, slippery yet textual with rose nuances floating in and out
