2021 Bandicoot Run Syrah, West Gippsland-VIC. 750ml.
Notes from the makers/growers Adriana & Al:
"On our farm in West Gippsland, Al’s dad planted the first vines back in the early 2000s. Starting off with 4 short rows of Syrah – which we can see from our back veranda. He then planted a few rows of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that he grew from cuttings taken off a lovely friend’s vineyard who lives by the coast. These vines are named after Minetta, the sweetest vigneron and most soulful lady. A salt of the earth type character. These vines are what gave us the confidence to expand the vineyard in 2017. They are old enough now to have their roots down deep into the subsoil and absolutely hum with vitality, producing super balanced fruit with intensity of flavour and length.
Hand destemmed, co-fermented with 5-10% viognier, macerated for two weeks then basket pressed to an old oak barrel and a small VC. The 2021 Syrah has a cool climate/ cool season structure which is almost juxtaposed against the super lifted perfume. Perfect for this change in season we are transitioning into. 450 bottles filled."
